Wood Decks

A deck is a solid wood floor for exteriors, ideal for terraces, swimming pools, the garden and facades. They serve as a decorative element within a home, company or office. In recent years, the demand for decks has increased due to their ease of installation and the little maintenance they require.

The wood used for the manufacture of a deck must be prepared to resist exposure to the elements. Generally, deck flooring is made of pine, tropical hardwood (Ipe), composite wood, or other softwoods. The woods must have a high density and natural resistance to climatic changes in order to be part of the decks.

Another advantage of the deck floors is their installation, which is simple and fast, in addition, once the floor is finished, it does not require other accessories such as waterproofing or other liquids that protect the wood.

The harmony that these floors provide, their different finishes, the different types of wood with which they are made, have made decks an essential element for decorating spaces.

A deck can be very practical since it does not absorb much heat and allows people to walk on it, even without having to use any type of footwear; For this reason, decks can become an excellent option to be placed in a garden or on a surface with a pool.

Another reason why deck floors have revolutionized spaces is because they are ideal for placing furniture, lounge chairs, plants or seats; creating atmospheres of enjoyment and comfort, inside and outside homes or offices.

Regardless of the surface, the deck floors can be easily adapted. If there are irregularities in the area where it is to be placed, there are materials that can level the area. A deck can even be mounted over an existing cement surface. Pergolas or awnings may also be implemented to provide comfort for the users, even though the materials used will make the deck itself resistant to weather elements. The materials commonly used in deck construction include a wide variety woods. Teak, cedar, ipe, mahogany, eucalyptus, quebracho, timbó, and incense are some examples of popular choices. For many, the primary characteristic for using a certain type of wood is that it must be resistant to humidity. For this reason, conifers are the most used wood type in deck composition.   Additionally, during the creation of a deck, certain types of treatments are usually applied to give the boards a longer useful life. Recyclable materials from polyethylene, polystyrene and PET plastic, as well as wood fiber agglomerates, are also used in the production.
